Wye Oak

American indie rock band from Baltimore, MD (USA). Andy Stack (drums, keyboards, backing vocals) and Jenn Wasner (vocals, guitars and bass) formed as Monarch in mid-2006. They released their debut album 'If Children' independently in 2007 and signed to Merge Records a year later. They re-released the album, followed by 'The Knot' in 2009.

The band's third album, 'Civilian', was released in March 2011, followed by 'Shriek' in April 2014. The same year, they recorded a cover version of Running Up That Hill for the website A.V. Club. Singer/bassist Jenn Wasner commented: 'So this song has been one of my favorite songs for a really long time. She just sort of insisted that the world engage with her on her terms and refused to compromise on that point. And as a woman and artist and human being, I just really admire that about her a lot.'

'The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs' is the band's most recent release, from April 2018.
