Born 27 September 1972 in Los Angeles, CA (USA). Following early notice for her work in films such as ‘Seven’ (1995), ‘Emma’ (1996), ‘Sliding Doors’ (1998) and ‘A Perfect Murder’ (1998), Paltrow rose to worldwide recognition for her performance in ‘Shakespeare in Love’ (1998), winning the Academy Award and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.

Her other film credits include ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ (1999), ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ (2001), ‘Shallow Hal’ (2001), and ‘Proof’ (2005), for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination. Since 2008, Paltrow has portrayed Pepper Potts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Her first musical recordings and releases resulted from her singing performaces in the film ‘Duets’. She took the role of Liv, the estranged daughter of Ricky Dean, played by Huey Lewis, with whom she also sang a duet, the song ‘Cruisin”. In the movie she also sang a cover of Kim Carnes’ ‘Bette Davis Eyes’. In 2011, she contributed a cover version of This Woman’s Work to the compilation album ‘Every Mother Counts : Songs Inspired By The Documentary “No Woman, No Cry” Directed By Christy Turlington Burns’. The album was sold exclusively at Starbucks locations in the USA and benefited the CARE’s maternal health initiatives and the Every Mother Counts foundation. She has also performed live, singing a duet with rapper Jay-Z during his concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, where she sang the chorus for Song Cry from the album The Blueprint.

Paltrow has been the face of Estée Lauder’s Pleasures perfume since 2005. She is also the face of American fashion brand Coach, owner of a lifestyle company, Goop, and author of two cookbooks.

In 2003, she married Coldplay’s Chris Martin. They have two children together: daughter Apple Blythe Alison Martin (born 2004) and son Moses Bruce Anthony Martin (born 2006). They divorced in 2015.
