Born as Glenda Hulita Elisabeth Batta, Glennis Grace was born on 19 June 1978 in Amsterdam (Netherlands). She was discovered at the age of 15 years when she participated in a Dutch talent show, performing the Whitney Houston song ‘One Moment In Time’. She is offered a recording contract and scores her first hit in the Netherlands with ‘I’m Gonna Be Strong’. After this, a period of silence follows despite several attempts at hit success.

In 2005, she represents the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest with ‘My Impossible Dream’, a Whitney Houston-inspired ballad, which fails to get into the finale. It does deliver her a second Dutch Top 40 hit.

In 2007 Glennis Grace starts recording songs in Dutch. Again failing to reach the charts, she finally scores in 2011 with a cover version of the Dutch band Volumia’s song ‘Afscheid’ (‘Farewell’). Two more hits follow that same year. She appears as a jury member in the Dutch TV show ‘The Next Pop Talent’ and forms the collective Ladies Of Soul together with four other Dutch female singers.

In 2018 Glennis Grace participates in the TV show America’s Got Talent. Her audition with – again – a Whitney Houston song goes viral, and in the semi-final she sings a cover version of This Woman’s Work, heavily inspired by the version recorded by Maxwell.
