American comedy-drama film from 2022, directed by Marc Forster from a screenplay by David Magee. It is the second film adaptation of the 2012 novel ‘A Man Called Ove’ by Fredrik Backman, after the 2015 Swedish film of the same name. The film stars Tom Hanks in the title role, with Mariana Treviño, Rachel Keller, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.
In the movie, a lively young family moves in next door, grumpy widower Otto Anderson. He meets his match in a quick-witted, pregnant woman named Marisol, leading to an unlikely friendship that turns his world upside down.
Kate’s song This Woman’s Work is used during a particularly moving sequence in the film.
Widely released in January 2023, the film received generally favorable reviews from critics and has grossed $108 million worldwide on a $50 million budget.
